Actions and Precautions We are Taking to Reduce the Risk of COVID-19 Transmission
The safety of our visitors and crew is our highest priority. We have worked closely with Biscayne National Park management to create operating procedures that will reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
We are all in this together, we appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these new operating procedures. Please read your confirmation and reminder emails carefully for information on our procedures. Signs will be posted to help direct you once you arrive for your activity.
For the safety of all our visitors and staff, if you are sick or have flu-like symptoms please do not book a Biscayne National Park Institute activity until you are certain you are no longer contagious. If you are sick and have flu like symptoms and already have reservations, please call (786) 465-4058 or email us at [email protected] to cancel and we will provide you with a complete refund.
Before Your Departure:
We are doing our best to make your visit a safe and enjoyable experience. At any time before your departure if you decide you are not comfortable with our measures to limit the risk of COVID-19 transmission, please inform your captain, if we are not able to accommodate you or address your concerns, we will provide you with a complete refund.
Prior to boarding your vessel, the captain will ask you the following questions:
- Do you have a fever, or have you felt feverish in the past 14-21 days?
- Are you having shortness of breath or other difficulties with breathing?
- Do you have a cough?
- Any other flu-like symptoms such as gastrointestinal upset, headache, or fatigue?
- Have you experience recent loss of taste or smell?
- Have you been in contact with any confirmed COVID-19 positive patients?
If your answer is “yes” to any of the above questions you will not be permitted to participate in a Biscayne National Park Institute activity. You will receive a complete refund. If prior to your visit you know that you will answer “yes,” please call (786) 465-4058 or email us at [email protected] and we will cancel your reservation and provide you with a complete refund.
Precautions by Our Crew:
Prior to opening each crew member will receive training on new procedures to limit the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Crew members will be required to wear a facial covering.
Hand sanitizer will be available for crew and visitor use.
Any crew presenting with cold or flu like symptoms will not come into work and any crew presenting symptoms while at work will be required to return home as a precaution.
Visitors Social Distancing:
Facial coverings are required to be worn from the time you are waiting to check-in until you off-board the vessel after the completion of the activity. This is in accordance to Miami-Dade County regulations. Facial coverings are not required for the short time of preparing enter the water to snorkel.
Renting masks and snorkels for snorkeling programs is available, all equipment undergoes a 3-step sanitation process after each use. We encourage you to bring your own snorkel gear. Snorkel gear is also available for purchase in the parks store, open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 AM-1:30 PM and Friday-Sunday 9:00 AM-3:00 PM.
Passengers on-boarding and off-boarding vessels will be staggered so each passenger can maintain social distance from other passengers.

Crew will sanitize vessels and equipment after each use.
Hourly sanitizing of check-in tablets, tables/counters, doors, and waiver clip boards with pens.
Use hand sanitizer frequently during check-in.
Please have your facial covering on at the time of your check-in.

Biscayne National Park Hours:
The Biscayne National Park grounds have limit hours and access. Please be mindful of any closed off areas of the park during your visit.
The Dante Fascell Visitor Center is open Friday-Sunday and Wednesday 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM, closed on Tuesday and Thursday. (Subject to change check https://www.nps.gov/bisc/index.htm for the most up to date information regarding the park visitor center hours.)
The park grounds are open daily from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Please keep in mind that the park may not be open for you to arrive early for a morning experience with us.
Park Store Operations:
The store will be operating under limited hours and may not be open during your visit. Please bring everything you need for your experience with you. This includes any food or drink items, as well as snorkel gear, towels, and sunscreen. You can purchase your Biscayne National Park themed items online at https://floridanationalparksassociation.com/shop. You can check to see if the store will be open during your visit and has the item you may need in stock by calling (786) 465-4058.
The park store is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 AM-1:30 PM and Friday-Sunday 9:00 AM-3:00 PM.
Snorkel Gear and Swim Vests:
We encourage you to bring your own snorkel gear and gear is available in the park store if you choose to purchase it. Gear rentals will be available.
We require that each person wears a brightly colored swim vest while snorkeling. These vests help our crew watch you while you are in the water. There is an inflation feature on these vests that can help with flotation. At this time, our captains will instruct you not to inflate the vests because they are done so through a mouthpiece. If you would like additional flotation, please request a pool noodle from the captain. We encourage you to bring a personal swim vest if you own one. Vests and pool noodles are not reused within 24 hours and will be sanitized after each use.
