Camp at Adams Key, Paddle, Sail and Hike Island Trails

Sails and Trails is the best way for ambitious visitors with a do-it-all attitude to explore and camp off the beaten path in Biscayne National Park. Paddle to the Jones family homestead, explore Spite Highway and camp at Adams Key. On the first day of your excursion, you will head out with a Biscayne National Park Institute captain aboard a 40+ foot sailboat where you will start by sailing across Biscayne Bay to Elliott Key. Paddling from the sailboat to the Key, your captain will lead you down the Spite Highway, taking many stops along the way to observe the flora and fauna of the environment. Learn many fascinating details of what life was like for the early settlers on these islands from your Captain.

Afterwards, you will sail to Adams Key where you can help prepare an included dinner. Enjoy the tranquil and remote environment of Adams Key, help to set up supplied tents for a peaceful night with your campmates. The next day, you start off cooking breakfast before paddling out to the Jones Lagoon Family Homesite and then down to the canal dug by hand by the family . Explore all of what Jones Lagoon has to offer by paddling some of the 550 aces of the lagoon and then returning back north to the sailboat. Shallow, clear waters give visitors an excellent opportunity to view the various wildlife right underneath their paddlecraft. Your learning adventure concludes with a relaxing sail back across the bay to the Biscayne National Park Visitor Center.
