Boca Chita Key Photography Workshop
Join us for a night photography workshop at Boca Chita Key shooting the stars and learning new techniques with an expert instructor.
This overnight workshop for intermediate photographers teaches the participant how to create images in the dark using advance techniques.
This workshop is a hands on learning experience that will focus on:
- Photographing night skies
- Creating star trails and time-lapse videos
- Photographing the Geminid meteor shower
- Minimizing the use of artificial light while photographing in a group
- Minimizing light pollution
Learn how to capture this key and iconic lighthouse in a new light.
What to Bring:
Participants must bring water, sturdy closed -toed lace-up shoes, and long pants on this trip; it is also suggested that people bring a long sleeved shirt, insect repellent, flashlight, and snacks. Participants should be prepared for insects that bite.
This is an intermediate-level photography program that will expand in the basics of night photography. Participants should bring a camera capable of using a shutter release and being mounted on a tripod. No Cell Phones or Basic Point and Shoot Cameras. An internal camera or cable type intervalometer is required.
Participants should also understand their camera and settings. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions regarding the camera type.
Participants should bring snacks enough to hold them throughout the night.
Participants should also bring an open mind.

5:00 p.m. – Introduction with Instructor
5:30 p.m. – Depart Convoy Point for Boca Chita Key
6:30 p.m. – Shoot the Geminid meteor shower at Boca Chita overnight
6:00 a.m. – Depart Boca Chita Key for Convoy Point
